We know that our industry has the incredible ability to build amazing things… and to make people’s heads spin a bit. So, we’ve created this page to answer questions we’re commonly asked, so you can reference our answers as needed. 🙂
How much does a website cost?
There are a lot of different ways to price web design & development services, and price points will always figure in quality, talent, experience of the vendor, and features, design, and development requirements of the site. Our sites start in the $5,000 range for a basic business site and are often $10,000+ for something custom. Where you fit into this scale will depend on your unique situation, and it’s always best to reach out for a free consultation to weigh your options.
How long does it take to design and build a website?
Project times will vary based on the needs of the project, but once we have everything we need from you, we can typically execute in 4-8 weeks. We’ll hammer out your exact timeline on an individual basis after your consultation.
Do I need my own domain name and web hosting?
Yes, we can help you get this set up, or you can do so on your own. We recommend SiteGround (Shelby’s pick) or Flywheel (Tracy’s fave) for hosting your website. SiteGround offers a free domain with your hosting or we can point your existing domain to either of these providers. If you choose Flywheel or prefer to keep your domain name separate, we recommend using NameCheap to purchase your domain name.
Will my website work on mobile devices?
Yes, we think it would be pretty silly to design sites that don’t work on the phones everyone is glued to these days, so we make all of our sites responsive. 🙂
Do you do eCommerce/Online Store/Shop websites?
Yes we do. 🙂 These typically require a little bit more time and involvement on your end to get us everything we need to help you though, so be prepared!
Wait, I thought WordPress was for blogs?
WordPress is what’s called a Content Mangement System (CMS). A CMS is a tool that allows you to maintain the pages of your website yourself, and publish new content without knowing how to code a website. It allows you to edit and add pages, images, products or blog entries to your site, all of which we can train you to do as needed. That’s why we use it, and why it’s powering a growing portion of the internet.
Can you help me with Social Media and Email Marketing?
Yes we can! We love being a part of your larger efforts, which is why we chose to be a full-service/one-stop agency. You can set up a free consultation today so we can build a package that’s best for you.
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO is the process of increasing your search ranking in search engines like Google. The higher you are in the results, the more traffic you’re likely to get on your site. Good SEO is much more than a one-time project, but a good place to start is having well-written content. We can partner with experts to help out with SEO and content strategies for your project so that you can get the most value from your investment, but still have one point of contact for your marketing efforts. We’ll chat about this at your consultation. 🙂
Do you write the content for my site?
Well, yes and no. Shelby loves content strategy, so she’ll help you work out a direction, themes, and messaging for your copy, but from there, we’ll work with one of our brilliant copy writers to fill in the details and polish everything up.
Can you design my logo? / What is “branding?”
Yes we do logos! Around here, we call it branding, but it includes your logo, yes. In addition to a logo, we’ll develop all of your supporting design assets – colors, fonts, icons, imagery direction, key messages, etc. We customize our branding packages for accomplishing your goals. 🙂
What is a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the internet, aka a URL. Typically this would be something like yourcompany.com or yourwebsite.org
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a service that allows your website to be viewed on the Internet. It’s basically a virtual storage space, (located on a computer in a data center) that runs your website and email.
